Feeding the hungry since 1979. Helping food pantries provide groceries for 2.5 million meals annually.
Our annual gala is one of our largest fundraisers, helping us to serve the needs of our LOCAL community! There are more than 1 in 10 people struggling with food insecurity or having adequate food resources for a healthy life in our Capital District service area! That is 82,260 people (11.99%)!
Fortunately our network of 56 food pantries are here to help! Last year 47,000 people utilized our food pantries for emergency and supplemental food assistance and received enough food for more than 2.7 million meals! Unfortunately, there are many more in need who are not able to access our community food pantry resources.
Our “Filling the Gap” Food Pantry System and Community Needs Assessment and program development is working to better understand community needs and improve the resources of our local food pantry system. However, we cannot do this alone. We are grateful for all of our partners, supporters and funders who are helping us achieve our vision for the community.
We are recognizing Siena College as our Outstanding Community Partner for their contributions to our “Filling the Gap” Food Pantry System and Community Needs Assessment, and Capital District Food Summit partnership. In addition we are recognizing Dinnie Shanley with our Sister Mary Coons Award for her contributions to our food pantries and those they serve over the years.
