Feeding the hungry since 1979. Helping food pantries provide groceries for 2.5 million meals annually.
Thank all of our generous Sponsors, Donors, Honorary Committee Members, Board of Directors, Volunteers, Member Pantries, Harvest Evening Committee Members, Chefs, Judges, Volunteers, Staff at Revolution Hall, Guests, The Food Pantries Staff, and everyone who has made the October 6th, 2016 5th Annual Harvest Evening Celebration the best yet!
The event raised over $59,000, which is an 83% increase from 2015!
Our annual gala is one of our largest fundraisers, helping us to serve the needs of our LOCAL community! There are more than 1 in 10 people struggling with food insecurity or having adequate food resources for a healthy life in our Capital District service area! That is 82,260 people (11.99%)!
Fortunately our network of 56 food pantries are here to help! Last year 43,500 people utilized our food pantries for emergency and supplemental food assistance and received enough food for more than 2.5 million meals! Unfortunately, there are many more in need who are not able to access our community food pantry resources.
Our “Filling the Gap” Food Pantry System and Community Needs Assessment and program development is working to better understand community needs and improve the resources of our local food pantry system. However, we cannot do this alone. We are grateful for all of our partners, supporters and funders who are helping us achieve our vision for the community.
We are so proud to have honored The University at Albany as our 2016 Outstanding Community Partner. Over the past years through the relationships we have built with the University at Albany, they have developed into an integral partner to our assessment, program development and capacity building efforts.
